Comics and me ....
Before I start today’s posting I just had an interesting conversation with my boss. You see I work in a startup company which I choose to be in. I ll let you in on the reasons as to why I choose a small start up company later, cause if I do it now then I ll probably end up blogging the whole day. Which is really not the reason I get paid for. Responsible blogger I am huh?
For those of you who don’t know a start up is a company which is yet to be established. It’s among the number of hopefuls that inspire to be the next Google, Microsoft, SAP etc. So in a start-up company the struggle and resolve required is much greater then those of the more established ones. One of the most apparent thing is that if you are a startup most of the time you are trying to build a reputation. To be established you will need a reputation. In this country there is a lot of opportunities and opportunist. For my company the ones that we tend to attract the latter. Just because we are a start-up they think that we’re a horny young blond = easy meat (ok that’s quite a stereotypes analogy, not that I had any personal experience lah). In the process to establish ourselves it is normal to face difficulties in securing jobs. More then frequent do we get a dodgy opportunity from an opportunist. They think that we re just gonna shove it up whatever that s been put in front of us. Thinking that all start up is ‘cincai’, meaning anything goes. WTF. People would be quite surprise as to how structured we are in doing our projects. There are specific guidelines and approach that we follow. People don’t realize this company is developed based on the vast experience obtained form reputable companies. My bosses are fortunate to be able to gain experience from abroad be. We do implement the best practices that we feel are relevant to our business. We don’t just do things for the sake of getting a job. We ve had our share of con experiences. All this makes me more determine to make things happen. I know that this things happen anywhere in the world but sometimes its just way to ridiculous. In my opinion some people are where they are right now via the short cut route. Greed being their driving force. They foresee the need to prosper together. Maybe what I am saying is a bit unrealistic in a business world where the dog eats dog. Then again there must be a way for you to succeed without twisting other peoples arm. Had people went through the struggle to succeed, they would not be trying to do that.
Ok la tu I gotta get down from this soap box.
On a lighter topic I saw a cool show last night on Discovery Travel and Adventure channel. You know how l would love to travel and see the world. So this particular show about New York and comics really got me going. Travel and comics dang those are two of my most favorite stuff. I was an avid comic book collector. Was because right now, I can no longer afford to collect comics anymore. Due to the economic factor prices of comics have become unbearable. Its just way to expansive. Besides that, the qualities of the materials used have also improved. With better quality comes greater price. But at the moment its just not possible to do continue collecting. Comics are not just merely books with superhero images. They re like music, for each comic carry a significant moment in time. Every time you flip back the pages not only will you remember the story but you ll remember the time when you first read it. Where, when and how were you at that moment in time. For me personally a lot of my interests were mostly spawned by my cousin be it music or such. I remembered he also had a friend who read and drew comics. At that time not many guys read comics cause there was no shop that specializes in comics. My most favorite comic book character was The Punisher, he’s a bit of an anti-hero and he seems more real. The person penciling the comic is another main factor. I have to say of all the comic book artist around my favorite has to be Jim Lee. His style of drawing is really cool. From Punisher I started following where he penciled. The most precious comic book I have is the Punisher 1 and Punisher War Journal 1. From X-Men then to Wildcats. Watching the show really made me want to go to New York. Maybe one day, who knows?
Ok guys gotta go …
Need to be at a clients place…
Have anice weekend …
Cheers…
