Im a rugby fanatic, in particular an All Blacks fanatic (thats™s right you wallabies and poms supporters!). Yeah, the team who lost in the semifinal again in this years 2003 world cup. I am their number one fan and no matter what I still think they re the best team this year. Yes Im a rugby and an all blacks fanatic. We re not about to discuss about the world cup but what I want to talk about is the coach¦

Should John Mitchell be retain as the All Black coach¦.

Honestly I think he should stay. Yes I do like the way he has develop the recent all blacks but this does not mean I agree with everything he does.

Firstly I like to point out the things I like about him.

He has an eye for the future.
Of all the team who played in the recent world cup the all blacks have a team that could conquer the rugby scene in years to come. Remember after 1999 the all blacks had trouble finding depth in the no 2,6,7,8 and 13 positions. Wayne Smith was not able to find the right players as the team left by John Hart did nt help either. But look at the team now apart from no 13 (Lets pray Nonu will be the next Bunce) the other positions in the team now have reliable depth and cover. A lot of this should be credited to John Mitchell he was the one who brought a young all blacks to tour Europe. Till today there is no doubt in my mind the tour was a really good outing for the all blacks. For this depth in talent to continue I think John should be given another crack at the job.

He likes the team to play an expansive style of game
(though this has its drawback keep on reading).
The style of play of the all blacks should be a good example of how rugby should be played. Its fast paced and uses every inch of the field. Its good for the game. Its always been the hallmark and strength of the all black team and in my opinion a team should play to its greatest strength and not simply copy the way of other successful team.

He is a man of principle.
To me an all blacks coach should be brave enough to stand by his principle and believe in methods he feels best for his team. It always helps to hear other people’s thoughts and ideas but it is equally important to have faith and trust in what you do. Especially for a coach as he is the leader.

All blacks lost not because of him (totally)
Although he did have a part in the lost the semifinal lost was not totally caused by him. The players should bare more of the responsibility. During the lost they simply did nt have the fire and the desire in their eyes to win the game. Unlike the wallabies the difference in body language clearly showed that. The all blacks did nt have the brute desire to take the game by its horn. Apart from Richie Mccaw and Jerry Collins the other players did nt show up at the game. The biggest flaw of the all blacks during that particular game was the inability to think on their feet. The coach was there to prepare them but ultimately on the field it’s the players who are the deciding factor.

Changing the coach is a bad move
If the all blacks change the coach especially now it will be a bad move. What every all blacks supporter should understand is that success will not come instantly. The biggest mistake is to aspect an all conquering all blacks every time a new coach comes in. I hate to say this but look at England, they stood with Clive through most of his cock ups. If Clive was a nz coach he would have been long gone. Rome was not build in a day the same saying applies to the all blacks. No matter how hard it is for all the supporters to swallow its gonna take patience and time. The all blacks and the players should get some continuity in order to be at their best again.

Lastly, to me it is harsh to evaluate him on just the semi-final lost alone

Next the bad points of John Mitchell..

I ve been wanting to blog for quite some time but I ve never had the oppertuinity and the time to do so. So this will be my first ever blog and hopefully the first of many to come. The reason I want to blog is because I ve always like to discuss and hear other peoples toughts and ideas. From this we can learn and open our mind and look at things from a different angle. I learn this from my days at Banting (a place in Malaysia), there I took up the international baccalaurete course (but didnt manage to complete it) and one of the subject that interested me most during the course was Theory of Knowledge TOK. It was a really a good subject as it tought us to not blindly accept things but to think and look at things from a differrent prespective.

This blog is for me to publish and bitch about anything and everything. If Im lucky people would respond and take part in the discussion as its always healthy to learn from others. Different people have different views and information. I like a healthy discussion as much as i like to bitch about things that pisses me off.

It does not hurt to learn from others.....
You dont know what you dont know....
