Numb....

Its been really tough for me at the moment. Its come to a point where I feel numb; you just don’t know what to do. I really feel for the people around me, my fiancée in particular. She has been my tower of strength at a time where a lot has happen. If it hadn’t been for her I guess things would be more difficult for me. I just pray that in return I would be able to do the same thing for her too. Yeah yeah forkers I know it sounds corny but if you were in my position you would understand. Then again I tell myself…. As much shit that I am going through at the moment there are those in Banda Aceh, Phuket, India, Somalia, Maldives, Sumatra and Penang who fare a lot more worse than I do. Not to mention the family of the girl in Sungai Petani…. Maybe it’s a cycle, not everybody goes through the end of the year in a blissful manner. Well I guess there must always be 2 sides of the coin….At the moment I m on the wrong side of it.

May your days be better then mine...
Cheers...

WICKED! Posted by Hello

This my friend, is God’s gift to us all. Firefox. Could this be the sign of things to come? Will this change the web? As the tagline suggest Take Back The Web it might as well do so. I have been dabbling with it even during Mozilla and now eventually they have managed to release a 1.0 version of Firefox. I have to be honest, like any average ‘user’ a browser to me would be the E icon all along. Yup I have been using Internet Explorer like most of you (I assume). See my company has been an Open Source advocate since it first started in 1999. So when I joined the company about a year ago I learned a lot about OSS (Open Source Software). It’s here that I learned the value of an internet browser. Before this I could nt care less about the browser. As long as I can hook up to the net, and see the contents, pictures (ehem ehem…) it was fine. What’s the big deal with the browser I thought. Why are these US lawmakers making it such a big deal about Microsoft bundling in the IE for free with its Windows OS? Its just a browser after all. How knowledge can really change the way we see things. Its here at the company did I learned how browsers can affect the security of your system, speed and your browsing experience. With the vicious pop-ups, adds and Trojans, browsing the net was becoming more and more challenging. Off all the issues security was the biggest gist. IE is actually very prone to attacks, probably due to its vast usage it maybe the cause to the problem. For more techno centric verb, among the root of the problem for IE is its harmful Active X component which makes it easier to attack. Anyway previously we just didn’t really have much of an option, especially for someone like me who previously was ignorant to such issues really. So there we were continuing with using IE. Which shows having a check without balance is never good.

Fortunate for us Firefox is upon us today. This browser is so cool that I change my default browser to it. In a way I ve no longer use IE as my main browser. And you can tell the difference. Among the things that really impress me are (in order of preference):

1. Tab Browsing

This function is by far my most favorite Firefox function. With Tab Browsing you can open up multiple page in a single browser. No longer do you have to open multiple browsers and clutter your taskbar. All you need is a single Firefox browser to handle all your surfing. The reason I like this function the most is because with it you will know precisely the pages that you opened, as it is indicated on the tabs. You ll no longer need to open each browser to find a particular page. The best usage for this function is when you are doing research using Google. When you are searching something on the web using Google you usually open a couple of the search results to find the exact information you require. What I would normally do is right click on the link and choose ‘open link in new tab’. The page will be opened in the same browser but in a new tab. So if you want to compare information or pictures (ehem ehem …) on different pages, just use the tab browsing.

2. Google Integration

Firefox synergy with Google has created a nice vibe to the whole browsing experience. For starters the default page is a google search page. So its easy when you find something on the web. Have you ever forgotten the actual url of the website? You re not sure it’s a .com or a .org, well with Firefox just type the main text and it will try to match it to the closest result. Try and key in Slashdot and the browser will go straight to the page. Easy huh? Another cool feature that involves google is the dictionary like function. If there is a word that you don’t understand, just highlight it, right click it and choose ‘Search Web ’. The browser will do a google search based on the word.

3. Search Toolbar

On the right corner of the browser you will see a search toolbar. Ok this toolbar doesn’t just handle google searches but also ebay search, dictionary.com, amazon and even Yahoo searches. Not only that you can even add other search engines you want. How cool is that. It just makes thing easier.

4. Customize Craze

If you re a customize freak then this is the browser for you. You can change the browser’s appearance by downloading your preferred skin. So not only does it do great things but it can also do it in style.

5. Easy transition

Downloading and installing the browser is a breeze. Knowing the vast number of IE users Mozilla has made it easier for you to make the transition. Importing your favorites will be easy so you wont have any issues when changing to the browser.

6. Secure!

Last but not least Firefox is one secure browser. No longer do you have to worry about idiotic pop-ups. The browser will filter the pop-ups so you ll no longer be pissed off with the stupid adds. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but since I used Firefox as my default browser, bugs or alerts were significantly lesser. This was evident every time I ran Addaware, Spybot or Antivir. So there’s less worry when your surfing the web.

Firefox has its issues e.g.: It does not support Flash, but those issues are addressed simply by downloading the plug-ins. Just do it once and you set to browse Flash sites.

Then again so far I have yet to find a good reason to go back to IE. So why don’t you give it a try. After all it is free ….

“Take back the web”

On a separate matter, Dang the song Lovers and Friends by Lil Jon is one smooth song. DL it man …Dude I got to tell you Usher, Jon and Luder had to do it again

Really Incredible!

Peeeerrrggghhh …

As depicted in my last posting you guys will know that it’s been hectic for me lately in the office. Hectic but fun… I like the challenge. Hopefully our efforts pay off so if we are I ll let you guys know about it. For me I don’t mind staying back during the weekend especially since my thoughtful Boss is giving a weekday off. So not bad even though I missed free food at an open house and an art bazaar. Its good when you have a challenge, especially when doing something you like, well that definitely helps in my situation. I know some would cringe at the thought or maybe Major’s just to green for saying this. Anyway who cares as long as I m happy but it’s a bit unfortunate for the people around me. Its one of those things that just happened. The work I had to do during the weekend wasn’t planned so I couldn’t spend time with them. Well as usual I ll try my best to make it up.

Wokeh nuff of that….

The not so “Great”

Last weekend we went to the movies…After quite some time I must say, but it was well worth it. Why it’s well worth it? Its cause we watched the Incredibles. Let me just say that the movie was awesome. Seriously it was that good. The reason I say it’s a movie not a cartoon is because it’s exactly that. It’s a kick ass movie and not just a kiddie cartoon. I’d classified it as an action movie, well written and it’s got a nice flow to it. It puts other movies to shame especially Alexander. Ok I watched Alexander and honestly I hated it. Here you are trying to portray The Great leader and yet most of the story focuses on the fact that he doesn’t mind humping a guy or a girl. Don’t get me wrong I don’t have anything against you faggots (hehehe pardon muh French) but I just feel its disappointing that the movie focuses too much on the topic. It’s as though they are trying to say “see doesn’t matter who you fork you still can be great”. Fork that. He was among the greatest conqueror who manage to convince his army to share his vision and aspiration. Definitely he didn’t manage to do that by thinking of who to bone all the time. A lot of people saw his greatness, no barriers could hold that. It doesn’t matter what religion or race you are people really looked up to him. He must have done something really special during his journey and invasions. The movie just didn’t show how he manage to capture the hearts of all the people he conquered. You get what Im sayin? He conquered these people and yet people still embrace him but yet the movie still focuses on how horny he is when he sees another dude. By the way here is an interesting fact, did you know among the things he was apparently famous for was logistic. Ok I knew this from talking to my boss who read about it in of all places, a logistic book. He was a genius in logistic which explains how he could manage the vast amount of soldiers in his army. He did this by establishing food supply from the countries he invaded. Once he did that he manages to feed his army and re-supply. See he was definitely smart but did the movie show that NOOOOO instead …

Huummpphh well you know by now laa …

The Truly Great

Ok ok back to The Incredibles, the story was really well written it had great focus as it didn’t just focused on the Dad, the father is not the Hero instead the whole family is. It manages to show the stuff that occurs in a family. The movies humor was also a highlight so there was never a time you were not entertained. The action was cool, I especially like the scene when the Ice dude which by the way was voiced by my man Samuel. The time when he built the ice and slide around using it was a sight to behold. Last but not least the animation was superb; the body movement and details was excellent. Just check out the grass’s texture, it was surreal. I think they should do more animated movies especially for sci-fi or comic book characters. CGI is great but it can be a distraction. Having to find the exact formula to balance both reality and CGI can affect the movie. Some movies suffer from over doing the CGI and losing focus on the storyline. Thinking audiences will appreciate it more then the story itself. Wrong! As the case of Godzilla (sucks big time) and the new StarWars. Do you guys know why Empire Strikes back is the Star Wars fan most favorite movie? Simple it had a good plot and a nice story to it. To me its either you do it well or don’t do it at all. Mediocrity is the mother of all forks ups. If you want to do a movie with CGI make sure you do it well and still write a good storyline. If not just keep it with the mechanics or don’t do it at all. Aliens versus Predetors maybe this year’s worst movie but it got one thing right. All if not most of the Aliens and Predetors scene were done using mechanics. No CGI. Which made the action and fighting skills seem more realistic. Unfortunately the story sucked.

Got a lot I’d like to write but I m off to take my break. See you on Thursday.

Moving Out

Any takers? Posted by Hello

Yiiiipeeeee! I m moving out from my bachelor pad into my parents house. Fuuuuyyoooo I’m jumping for joy heheheh ok ok la not entirely. Its always been nice to have your very own space, especially if your family is a tight bunch. I ve always believe you always need your space as to not get too edgy with the people around you. Lets face it you re always gonna hit a wrong nerve whether you try to avoid it or pretend that nothing happen. Its still gonna happen. That’s life you see so its good to have space but it comes at a price. Since I’m getting hitched next year (exactly a year from now which is December) I need to tighten up. Another factor is my parents just moved over here so it makes sense for me to move in with them. Imagine no more rental to pay, now that saves me a lot dough cause I m staying alone (which also makes it all the more sweeter really). So from 1st of January 2004 Im saying goodbye to my bachelor pad. Isk Isk. Well like I said now I don’t have to pay rent, iron my own clothes (heheh wink wink), do laundry and cook. By the way the table pictured above is on sale so any taker?

Dinin Area Posted by Hello

Major being Major there’s always a plan put in place to soften the transformation. See Im applying for a home loan and the home loan comes with a free credit card (wink wink). Remember how I said I never had one, well there’s a strong possibility I will be getting one for the first time in my life. Kinda scary though knowing the fact that a high level of discipline and abstinence required from having one. Well here goes nothing, so pray to god everything goes well. Back to the plan, ok since I m gonna get a credit card and to honor its arrival to my life I’m gonna give it the respect it deserves. I’m gonna spend on it! I m going on a shopping binge. (well sounds a bit girly huh?) Hahahaha not in a obscene way la. Last month I went to Singapore to survey the stuff there heheh so I ve already identified a few stuff. Which I might add isn’t available here. Since Christmas shopping is around the corner if not already there I’m gonna be paying a visit to Kiasu land for some good ol shoooopping experience (suddenly I sound like the SenQ biatch).

My Livin Area again Posted by Hello

So I’m gonna sign off with some pics of my apartment. Some of the stuff on the pic is for sale. Stuff like the carpet and the glass table (sorry I still need the chairs) will go at a knock down price. So if you re interested gimme a buzz.
